GOP Rapidly Morphing Into GQP With Strong Support for Greene

In the past 24 hours, House “Republicans” made it abundantly clear where their allegiances lie: with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, conspiracy theorists and QAnon believers. From their standing ovation for Rep. Greene to their votes this afternoon against punishing her for spreading QAnon, 9-11, anti-Semitic and school shooting conspiracy theories.

Tonight, nearly 95 percent of House “Republicans” put partisanship ahead of principle and voted against holding Rep. Greene accountable for her unacceptable, violence-endorsing rhetoric. Only 11 of the 211 GOP Members voted to remove Rep. Greene from her committee assignments.

But, not only are “Republicans” in the House refusing to hold Rep. Greene accountable, they are actively celebrating her dangerous behavior and views. Last night, at the meeting where Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (Q-CA) announced he would take no action to sanction QAnon adherent Marjorie Taylor Greene, half of the House Republican Conference – behind closed doors – gave a standing ovation to the anti-Semitic, shooting survivor-harassing, 9/11 Truther Greene.

Given Greene’s refusal to publicly apologize for any of her violent conspiracy theories, McCarthy deserves to be asked: what were his members clapping for?

Were House Republicans applauding Greene’s stated support for QAnon?

Were House Republicans applauding her racist, Islamophobic and anti-Semitic statements?

Were House Republicans applauding her 9/11 Trutherism?

Were House Republicans applauding her harassment of gun violence survivors?

Were House Republicans applauding her calls for executing Democratic members of Congress?

Were House Republicans applauding her insistence that the Sandy Hook shooting was a ‘false flag’ operation and that the Las Vegas shooting was staged?

McCarthy’s failure to lead his party – and House Republicans’ refusal to reject QAnon adherents – has effectively handed the keys to the conference over to Greene. Unfortunately, this is just the latest step by House Republicans on a slippery slope towards conspiracism and intolerance, as evidenced by their shameful votes on January 6th when nearly 60 percent of their conference voted to overturn the results of the 2020 election and throw out the will of voters even AFTER the deadly insurrection.

There's no mention of the House Freedom Caucus, of which Greene is a member. The Freedom Caucus was founded and funded by trump's inner circle and includes all the people who are steering the GOP and its voters into the party of fake news, conspiracies, and insurrections. The party may have already been heading in that direction pre Freedom Caucus, but now they are turning it up to 11.

I also find it remarkable that every day, when trump was on twitter, the headlines were dominated by his insanity. Now Greene, one of trump's acolytes, holds that mantle.

Some other names from the Freedom Caucus, we might recognize the names as some of the worst politicians in Washington.

Gym Jordan Matt Gaetz Lauren Boebert Devin Nunes Mo Brooks Paul Gosar Louie Gohmert

former members: Mark Meadows Dana Rohrabacher Mick Mulvaney Ron DeSantis Justin Amash

It's not hyperbole to say the Freedom Caucus is a scourge on the country. Greene is only a part of the problem.

It's the natural progression. Bush was an idiot and a complete failure and they voted for him. Then Sarah Palin - an even more ignorant choice. Then Trump - another complete failure and even more ignorant. This was intentional. They built a cult and a con man stole it.
