But...wouldn't he have had to pay for all of his crimes? Like the court would have thrown the book at him and locked him away. There would have been investigations dating back decades to the murder of those children, with family members seeking justice.
Honestly as iconic as Darth Vader's mask is, I feel like the first thing you would do after reforming is change your look so the mask doesn't immediately bring to mind all the horrible things you've done. I could see him adopting a much simpler mask maybe with influence from the old temple guards.

There was this old comic called Star Wars Infinities: Return of the Jedi that reimagines how RotJ goes.
Anyways, at the end of it Vader is still alive and has an all white suit. Looks super awesome, but I think I like this one even better!
