Just in case people are curious, "the" isn't necessary here. "Het" is a Dutch equivalent of "the" so it should just be "het bootje". The "little" can be found in the suffix "je" which is used to make an object sound smaller. So, in this case, "boot" (boat) becomes "bootje" (little boat).
