If I remember correctly, the term is Jettison. When a fighter jet catches fire or something else on the flight deck of a carrier catches fire, they push it overboard.
I may be wrong with my terminology, but I’m pretty sure that’s the right term. So it’s kinda cool to think about what happened that made the navy push a very expensive piece of equipment overboard.
P.s. the navy throws a shit ton of stuff overboard in international waters. Check about 30-50 miles off the coast of Norfolk, Florida, and San Diego.
