If you don't want people to qualify for welfare which YOU pay for, then demand that companies pay living wages.
Seems pretty simple but some people are so blinded by the idea of hurting those they don't like that they don't mind hurting themselves at the same time.

Often people don't realize that service jobs are literally all that's available in a lot of places. The deserve to live.

Anyone who thinks a janitor doesn't deserve a living wage has never had to live through a sanitation strike.
