Oh, you’re still upset by a violent attempt to overthrow an election in a violent siege egged on the President? Jeez, why can’t you people let it go already?

During an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Tuesday night, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) railed against Democrats’ push for impeaching ex-President Donald Trump for inciting the attack on the Capitol, which ultimately led to five deaths.

“They’re engaging on an act that I think is petty, I think it is retribution, I think it is vindictive, and I think it’s a waste of time,” the Texas Republican complained.

“And so to coin a phrase, I think it’s time to move on,” he continued. “It’s time to move on and focus on helping people get back to work, helping people beat this global pandemic, bringing America back to where we should be, not these partisan games the Democrats are playing.”

Cruz and fellow likely 2024 presidential candidate Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) led the crusade to object to certifying the 2020 election results by invoking Trump’s falsehoods about voter fraud — falsehoods that inflamed the former president’s angry supporters and led them to storm the Capitol on the day of certification.

Even as the insurrections were laying siege to the building, Cruz’s campaign sent out fundraising texts and emails that touted his attempt to subvert the election.

“I’m leading the fight to reject electors from key states unless there is an emergency audit of the election results,” the text said. “Will you stand with me?”

Senate Democrats have filed an ethics complaint against Cruz and Hawley, saying their actions “lent legitimacy” to Trump’s false narrative.

You know what you call an insurrection that goes unpunished?

A rehearsal.

"it's been weeks since I tried to kill you... are you STILL hung up on that?"

How many Benghazi investigations were there?

How many “but ‘er e-mail” investigations were there?

Trying to white wash an insurrection incited on nothing but lies deserves substantially more scrutiny and accountability.

Being co-conspirators, Cruz, Hawley, and others should be required to recuse themselves from participating.
