Folks on reddit reallllly need to stop thinking fuckos like Gaetz and Hawley are any different than 4chan trolls with political aspirations. They're not stupid so stop trying to characterize them as such.
Gaetz is very deliberately tweeting this bad faith argument to get big reactions. From his supporters, it's affirmation and maybe even some adulation. From the left it's loud, public mocking and disgust. All of it works to his own benefit.
He's manipulating two very disparate groups with one tweet and laughing at both of them as he goes viral and raises his national profile a little bit more.
I can't believe the Democrats have gone so far in 2021 as to prohibit guns from being brought into our nation's Capitol Buil—wait, what's that? Guns have been banned in the House chambers since 1967? What the fuck is Matt talking about then?
