Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) mocked Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) early Thursday for wrongly suggesting that a multinational pact on climate change — the Paris Agreement — was designed to serve “the people of Paris.”

“Quick question: do you also believe the Geneva Convention was about the views of the citizens of Geneva?” Ocasio-Cortez jabbed, suggesting that Cruz was unaware that the agreement had been signed in the French capital, but was not created uniquely in the service of French people.

Nice tweet Sen. Cruz! Quick question: do you also believe the Geneva Convention was about the views of the citizens of Geneva? Asking for everyone who believes US Senators should be competent and not undermine our elections to incite insurrection against the United States https://t.co/mMf8iDo72G — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) January 21, 2021

The comments came after Cruz on Wednesday night tweeted his displeasure with Biden’s announcement during the President’s first day in office that the U.S. would reenter the agreement in a flurry of moves aimed at undoing Trump’s agenda.

“President Biden indicates he’s more interested in the views of the citizens of Paris than in the jobs of the citizens of Pittsburgh,” Cruz wrote.

The Texas lawmaker’s line parroted a nonsensical argument from former President Trump, who in 2017 declared the nation would make an exit from the agreement because he “was elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not Paris.”

But Cruz had been a ring leader in an effort to object to the Keystone State’s Electoral Votes for Biden earlier this month and by invoking Pittsburgh, Cruz invited further criticism on Twitter. He was relentlessly roasted for his apparent lack of knowledge about the state’s attitudes about the environment and for his efforts to wage the undemocratic charade and for his role in inciting an attack on the U.S. Capitol earlier this month:

Senator @tedcruz is so stupid he thinks the Paris Climate Agreement is about Paris and that Pittsburgh is still the Pittsburgh of the 1940s that belches smoke from its now-gone steel mills. It's scary that people this stupid are allowed to incite violence against our Capitol. https://t.co/ENrySgWxar — Mrs. Betty Bowers (@BettyBowers) January 21, 2021

It's a catchy line, but Pittsburgh decided to voluntarily comply with Paris guidelines in spite of US withdrawal, so https://t.co/MHLH2M360u https://t.co/JwTjBV64Un — Lachlan Markay (@lachlan) January 21, 2021

Keep my hometown's name out of your mouth. It just goes to show how little Ted Cruz actually knows of Pittsburgh if he thinks it's still a gray, smog-filled city toiling away under steel mills and refineries instead of a green city revitalized around medicine, academia & tech. https://t.co/L0dGwnS5Op — Alisha Grauso (@AlishaGrauso) January 21, 2021

Senator Ted Cruz:

By rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, President Biden indicates he’s more interested in the views of the citizens of Paris than in the jobs of the citizens of Pittsburgh. This agreement will do little to affect the climate and will harm the livelihoods of Americans.

Question for you, Performative Ted. What state is Pittsburgh in?

Quick follow up, Ted. What state’s votes did you try to disenfranchise.

My state. So shut the fuck up. Honestly, he teed up Fetterman so hard for a hilarious tweet that gets national coverage.

Let him have it, Big Man.

Cruz knows what the Paris Climate Agreement is.

He doesn't believe the Trump base that he is trying to cling to does (probably correctly).

It's disgustingly obvious pandering to the LCD.
