Got pulled over by my manager who said a complaint was filed against me for rudely insinuating that x wasn't y years old to qualify for the discount.
Was called unprofessional and asked never to do that again. Now I only say company mandated lines and upsell and stuff. Much more professional. Glad they nipped that one in the bud before it made anyone smile.
Hahahha I had a similar experience when I was 16, working in a cafe in my old town. These chill older bikers came inside and the one gentleman in leather asked if we had a seniors discount. I kept a straight face and told him gravely " I'm sorry sir, but you're not old enough for our seniors discount." He eyed me with suspicion and laughed asking if I was buttering him up for a good tip. I laughed and said I wasn't, but he ended up putting 2$ in my top jar for a 1.50$ coffee. He was awesome
