Similar, but what grinds my gears is when the hero kills a lot of nameless soldiers specifically because they've chosen to do things the hard way in order to avoid killing the bad guy.

The Hero wants a paycheck too. If he kills the villain, they can’t make a sequel, and there won’t be anymore paychecks to be had.
