My son was 9yo when he started his battle, 11 now and still fighting. There are a lot of these moments that just fucking kill you. For us, teaching a young child how to take pills was one of the harder things to do. It’s not an easy thing to learn when you’re already nauseated, and the pressure of HAVING to take it... My son went through all of this for the first ~11mo of his treatment, rang the bell, and 3mo later had a major regression. Of that 3mo of freedom he got to feel like a normal kid for about a month. He even got his hair back. Then we got thrown right back in, and given 1in10 odds he would survive. Fuck cancer.

Edit: holy cow, thank you everyone for your support. I wrote this kind of to vent, but your words mean everything. Thank you all!

Edit2: I can’t respond anymore, my heart is too heavy and my son will wake soon. You all have touched me, I’m crying my eyes out. As a 6’2” bearded man my son pulls his strength from me, more than he should, so don’t want him to see me like this. Love you all!

This is the photo that convinced me to sign up for be the Match. We should all sign up, I personally know someone who survived their battle because of it.

That’s heartbreakingly rough.

It’s the body language - you don’t see that body language in children.
