Amazon Studios’ comedy sequel “Coming 2 America” has officially been given a PG-13 rating from the MPAA for “crude and sexual content, language and drug content.”
The new rating marks a change from the 1988 original which was rated R for nudity and language. That said, an R rating in 1988 is different from an R rating today with the new film expected to be mostly unaffected by the switch beyond less uses of the f-word and certain racial language.
Set in the lush and royal country of Zamunda, “Coming 2 America” continues to follow newly-crowned King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) embark on an all-new hilarious adventure that has them traversing the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York – where it all began.
The film will now arrive in most countries on March 5th 2021 through Amazon Prime Video.
(NOTE: An earlier version of the article mistakenly indicated the PG-13 rating wasn’t in effect in U.S. cinemas in 1988 when it had been around since 1984).

That rules out a Samuel L Jackson cameo.
