I don’t know if it was like this everywhere, but in the late 90s and early 00s, the Fraternal Order of Police would hold these fundraising drives. And if you donated a certain amount of money, you would receive a window decal to put in your car. This decal was an advert that you financial backed the Union and thus police officers, to other cops. It was a ‘get out of small trouble free’ card. Taillight out? You’d get a warning and a thank you for supporting the union. Same with small moving violations. I bought one every year for like 8 years because it honestly was the best $50 you could spend.
That’s what people who waved around the Blue Line flag and wore the patches were getting from buying them - a free pass from the cops. And when they started getting pepper sprayed or told ‘no’, or even arrested or treated like a normal citizen they go full Karen and demand a refund. They never loved the cops, they loved the privilege of being white and being in the sycophant club.

There were people storming the capital wearing Auschwitz sweaters and "6MWE" shirts. Along with confederate and Nazi flags.
Do you think, maybe, it was a problem Trump didn't denounced white supremacists?
And to those who say "BuT hE dId". They just committed a terrorist act for him. Clearly he didn't.

Waving a “don’t tread on me” flag and getting trampled to death is a whole other level
