Ugh. I think most of the spread is occurring between families and friends who are gathering. They all think “I am safe, my family/friend is safe”, so let’s have a mask less indoor gathering. Unless you all take various strict precautions (testing before and after gathering, quarantine before and after gathering, social distance and mask on) then you are not safe.
My niece got covid. She got it because she doesn’t wear a mask and keeps going out to bars and hanging out with friends. On our zoom call for Xmas she said it was a miserable experience and recommends everyone take precautions. She was on camera along with her daughter, her sister, her brother, her brother’s girlfriend, her mother (my sister), and her grandfather. All crowded around a table and no one wearing a mask. She continues to Snapchat daily being out in bars and hanging out with friends, and no one is ever wearing a mask.
I don’t think “take precautions” means anything to her. (And yes she is in the “thoughts and prayers” camp)
My friend and THIRTEEN other people are currently battling the new strain of COVID-19 because a guy travelled to the UK and, on his way back, skipped the testing line... despite having a fever. And splitting headaches. And tightness around his chest. With those symptoms, he went back to the college dorm. Didn't tell anyone shit. One of the students had cancer as a child... :/
My friend got extremely sick less than 2 days later and went to the hospital because she just felt that it was COVID. She was forced to say the name of the spreader. Less than 30 minutes later, he calls her just to insult her and demands "reasons" as to why she went around telling everyone his business. Apparently, the hospital staff had contacted him to know the details of his UK trip, whom he had been in contact with, etc. And that was just iNfurIAtiNg.
He ruined everyone's holidays and had the audacity to get mad. Jesus Christ.
