I got way more matches by going from a long complicated "funny and clever" bio and switching to some lame 5 word joke. Upvotes on Reddit don't correlate well with the real world.
Three tips: 3. Short 4. Don't be too self deprecating 5. Light and funny
Else just skip your bio entirely and let the pictures do the talking. Not ideal but you can test if your bio is putting people off.
