Republican politicians aren't dumb. They have the same "elite and liberal education" that people from the DNC do. Many of them even have PhDs. I'm convinced they just pander dumb things to their voter base and vote on hurtful laws so they stay in a power position to bank off lobbyists. The laws they vote on and things they say clearly don't pertain to them.
