Sadly, this would actually work out well for them. More people with more money buy more things, businesses flourish, stocks rise...

I thought there was already a term for this: "rising tide." Big difference is that instead of waiting for scraps to trickle down, all poor people's money immediately goes to the rich in rent, groceries, etc, helping poor people temporarily and ending up nearly where we'd be if we gave to the rich. I can't remember the macroeconomic term, but each time a dollar gets spent it's like the gears of the economy turning and rising tide adds an immediate full turn. I fully support giving to poor as a means of spurring the economy over the trickle down fraud scheme.
