Was listening to This American Life talking about the US betraying a tribe over and over and over until they were finally forced to fight back and were slaughtered in the ensuing battles. A teacher going over those events said "We learned how the Indians weren't as good at settling disagreements as the Americans."

Edit: 479, Little War on the Prairie.

Found the actual quote and it's somehow much worse than my paraphrase:

We just talked about, like a conflict is a disagreement. And we talked how the Dakota Indians didn't know how to solve their conflicts. And the only way they knew how to solve their disagreements was to fight, which we know, we don't fight when we solve conflicts. We use our words.

Trail of tears wasn’t too toed around, at least not where I grew up. Shouldn’t be any secret that we have most of America by right of conquest.

But Native Americans did teach colonists to grow corn. That's a fact. It didn't turn out all that well, but there are still a multitude of facts to be acknowledged.
