One time i was crying in the parking lot of my job during my lunch break because i couldn’t handle the thought of going back in. When i did go back in it was time for my weekly one on one with my manager to discuss sales goals. It went like this.

Manager: How have the sales calls been goi-

Me: Im giving you my two weeks

I hadn’t planned on quitting i just couldn’t have this conversation even one more time. I was let go right then and there. Had no job lined up. Was employed again within 10 days. Miss the job market of 2019 but damn do i love my job now! Best thing i ever did.

I had gotten wrongfully fired from a pharmaceutical job and went straight into a job testing waste water a few weeks later. I was running a procedure called a sludge fecal that involved sewage, a pipet, and a blender and while I'm trying to run this test, this psycho chick that's supposed to be training me is yelling in my ear about how bad I am and talking to me like a dog that had shat the floor. I had only been there for about a month. I quit before even finishing the sample. Found out later that I was the 4th person at that position in the last year because no one could work with her. As Marshawn says... "You gotta take care of your mentals."

A lot of small time managers really imagine themselves as the Meryl Streep character in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ — they have a god complex and probably think being mean and intimidating is the definition of power, but in reality they have no real power over us and we can almost always find bigger and better opportunities. I love stories like this which remind managers like her that they ain’t shit in the grand scheme of things. There’s always another open door.
