The most interesting anti-bombing-blackout story for me always was the one of Konstanz, they never blacked out because they're right at the border of Switzerland and on the other side of the border there immediately is a neighboring Swiss city so you could never see the border from up high. So if they would have blacked out they'ld have shown where the border is and where you can where you can't bomb. This way they never got bombed because you could never be sure not to hit Switzerland.
