Flexible hours, but you must be in the office between the hours of 9 and 5, and available for emergencies.

I had an interview like that. Interviewer said the job wasn't "9 to 5". I tried to draw him out on that, at which point he said no one goes home at 5, most people stay until after 7, and the culture is that people are "happy" to do it because they love the product, and anyone who did leave earlier "didn't last long".

Yeah, no thanks.

At my last interview I was asked what I thought about flexible working hours. When I asked what that entailed, he said "well, that means that you will usually be required to stay overtime". My answer to that was I was willing to stay overtime when necessary and if it is not a standard practice, but that I also expected to be paid for overtime. Never heard from them again lol.
