My dad died in July. The facility he was last at was supposed to have an events coordinator who would set up iPads to FaceTime family. I called and called and not once did the fuckers even return my call about setting up a time for this. My dad’s last 10 days of his life I never even got to talk him. I couldn’t visit him and I couldn’t talk to him. I fucking hate this.

I work at a cell phone store, we had a customer’s kid come in for the iPhone Pro Max and the mom wasn’t on the plan. I asked about putting her on the account since we were running a BOGO promotion.

At first the wife was very quiet and the husband kind of took over the conversation, honestly I thought that he was one of those old school farmers who rules the house.

Flash forward to last May and I find out a few years ago she had a stroke and her speech was impaired, and she was in the hospital two hours away (we live in bum fuck nowhere) and it was harvest time so the husband and kid couldn’t drop their lives and get a hotel room close to her.

She passed from having staph infections on her brain. Her husband came in a few weeks later just to thank me for talking her into an iPhone, because a nurse had shown her how to FaceTime and that’s how they stayed connected. Straight up lost it in the store.
