We still say "rewind" despite the fact that we rarely use media like tape or film that require spools to be rewound upon. For that matter, we still say "filmed" or "caught on tape" about things that don't use film or tape.

At what point is a generation going to not be able to recognize that the save icon is a floppy disk and see it as just some random senseless icon?

If that is how 4269 AD tech looks, it deserves to have the save icon as a floppy disk.
