I was once ringing up a customer and this last 2 people back in line was making a huge deal to her friend about how her boss is making them work on the day after Thanksgiving and how its so terrible they have to work and no one should have to work after the holiday. The thing that got me was her reasoning was that she should be off because its her family tradition to go shopping on black Friday. I looked up at that and wanted to ask if she thought my family tradition was to have to work so other people could shop. Like wtf is with some people.
I used to work in a customer service call centre in Ireland, that opened on Xmas day because people would still use the service. The majority of calls were people who phoned up “just to see if you were open”. They said “oh it’s awful they make you work on Xmas day.” With their phone call being another reason we would stay open on Xmas! (I didn’t care though got paid double time and was drunk by mid day)
