Firefighter/EMT here, of all the many, many motor vehicle accidents I've responded to the people wearing seat belts usually walk away with minor injuries like this. Combined with airbags and crumble zones modern car and much safer than the ones your parents learned to drive in. Wear your seat belt or you will most likely get seriously injured. We have a poster up at the station of broken front windshield and you can clearly see the facial features of the victim
