4 years ago during Black Friday at Icing Accessories, my manager expected me to work 24 hrs straight as the next shift worker didn’t come in and she didn’t want to leave her moms house. Called the district manager and she insulted my work ethic to insinuate I was not dedicated to the company. I was assistant manager at the time and no other employee was working the store. I left the keys in the back room and abandoned the store left open and never went back.

Edit: My first award!!

Old Navy worker here. My manager has consistently lies about what the criteria are for whether or not you should come into work in regards to COVID-19 exposure. She’s also only pretending to do max capacity, despite it being currently required by law. Old Navy can go right to hell.

Edit: It’s funny seeing all the people calling this fake in this subreddit, but at the same time you have tons of Old Navy or former Old Navy employees chiming in that this sounds about right. Myself included

Stop asking your manager anything. Just inform them of the decision you're making.

That advice changed my life.

I don't call and ask my manager if I can have the day off because I'm feeling sick. I call him and tell him I won't be in today, because I'm sick.

It seems small, but works most of the time. Take the choice and options away from people, and they respond better.
