Teenagers sometimes get a bad reputation. I lost my dog near our town centre. I was walking near a group of loud shouting teenage lads, running around this little park. As I walked past, one shouted out "Did you lose your dog?". I said I had and he explained that, that was what all the shouting was for. They were trying to catch her, in case she ran onto the road. Of course the dog is enjoying the game. I swear she was smiling when she came sprinting out of a hedge to me.

The thing that really changed my view, was that they wouldn't take any money as a reward. I insisted and gave them around £50 to get snacks. They saved me a fortune in dog watden/vet bills.

Stories like the original post give me hope for kids in the future.

Man, what a difference this would have made for me in Jr. High and most of high school. Lunch was the worst! I dreaded it every day. No food at home, no money for lunch, no friends to sit with. For years I hid in a forgotten bathroom of a seldom used wing of the school, or a far corner of the library. I panicked at the sound of someone nearby and counted seconds of the ticking clock on the wall. I can't imagine how much better I would have felt if someone sat with me the few times I had to go back to the cafeteria, even if it was out of obligation.

I was extremely small for my age when I entered high school due to my Crohns Disease, 4’6” 65 lbs. all of my friends had different lunch periods, so I sat alone because I was too nervous to talk to new people.

I remember after about a week of eating alone, these varsity football players came up to my table, and after thinking “this is where I get picked on” they smiled at me, and asked me to sit with them at lunch. They made me feel so much less anxious about going to lunch, and they never once were even a sliver of mean to me.

Here are these huge football players, the most popular kids in school, and they just cared about making sure a small, scared kid was able to eat lunch with someone.
