Reminds me of an episode of The Crown, where Margaret Thatcher’s son is missing in the Sahara Desert. The council person tells him they’ve narrowed down the search to a specific area in the desert... an area about the same size as the whole of the UK.
I've driven cross country (United States) several times and am amazed at how huge the country is. The deserts out west stretch on for what seems like eternity.
Then you realize that the Sahara desert is the size of the entire United States..
