What I would give to watch a Boomer spend hours painstakingly putting together a good CV, only to be told to fill in an application form with all the same information on it
My dad is in his sixties now in a stable job, but had been bounced from one crumbling industry to another for several years (airlines around 9/11, home builders during the housing market collapse). He stopped telling us kids to ‘hit the pavement, shake some hands’ after doing it so many times himself. “They just do NOT want to talk to you,” I remember him lamenting, “they just tell you to do the online application.” Yep, dad.
Edit: he was laid off, various economic downturns affected these industries around 2001 and 2008 respectively.

Make sure you print your resume on colored card stock! It will stand out that way!
