Life without parole for a 13 year old?

I'm sometimes completely amazed at the power of a genuine apology. Just into his second year in, he called her and told her how sorry he was and how he hoped for a good Christmas for her and her family.

For someone going through the physical trauma of the recovery, the mental trauma of why her, why him, is a lot to bear as well. I'm sure that call went an enormous way for her. It showed his humanity and contrition and from there you get to here. (Not necessarily, of course. My point is that without that initial apology and acknowledgement, you're that much less likely to get to this outcome.)

Still incredible for her to forgive that way.
