Tl;dr: A stranger on Reddit responded to my lost pup post on our local Subreddit and recovered the puppy using his drone. Our whole village rejoiced and our faith in humanity has been restored.

Edit 2: While this post is trending, I just wanted to spotlight another missing dog, Scooter, and she's a senior dog. Her last seen location was Hot Springs Landing, New Mexico unfortunately on 10/1 (and Redditors from New Mexico if you have more info please share in comments - u/pmoneycashmoney tipped me but it'll be helpful to be able to link to the original rescue post, I think!).

Here’s the full story:

Buckle up, Reddit. This is a little insane.

Three days ago, I saw on our community forum that Meadow was missing in our town for over a week. It has been snowing and quite cold where we were, so the whole town rallied together to search for Meadow but to no avail. I thought I’d try my luck and share the lost dog poster on our local Subreddit r/Catskills.

A stranger Redditor u/FunctionalERP_92 responded immediately and offered to look for Meadow with his drone. I asked the search team to give me the more precise coordinates and shared that with him. To be honest, I lost all hope at that point as it’s been more than 10 days. I also didn’t expect a stranger to go at the length it would require to look for Meadow.

Then at 3:30 PM yesterday, I got a ping from Reddit that u/FunctionalERP_92 found Meadow! The length this dude went to is insane:

He drove 1.5 hours from where he was and spent forever until his drone went out of the battery to look for Meadow You can read his full story here and here, and his Instagram story documented the whole journey: link to Instagram highlights Brian (at this point, I finally know who he is!) declined the $500 rewards - instead, he donated the reward to the town’s animal shelter, a charity that helps to feed at-risk youth during the holidays, and the Catskill Center, an organization that meant a lot to him. https://catskillcenter.org/ I tried to give him a bottle a wine and he didn’t take that either.

Reddit, I think there are a few things we can do to return the kindness to Brian:

Check out his business - he’s a professional hiking guide and the Catskills is one of the most beautiful places in the US (I’m biased): https://roulette-travel.com/guidedhiking/ plus his beautiful Airbnb. Please follow Brian’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/roulette_travel/ And subscribe to his Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmI6X25MPk1wUmW2To_db6A

2020 has been freaking tough but I hope this story will brighten up your day. Sending you all much love and a massive virtual hug. Thank you, Brian, for being such a wonderful human being bro.

Edit: if you feel like giving this post an award, please consider giving it to Brian’s post instead. I’m just the messenger trying to amplify his good deed and promote his awesome business.

Blurred his face to avoid being hugged by strangers like me the rest of his life.

You can keep on posting this story for all of time! Welcome home, Meadow.
