I showed someone a ledger from Texas A&M from 1975, a full semester of classes (5 classes) cost 550 dollars, one class of mine costs twice that

We all really need to be making this comparison constantly, and also maybe talk about how many of the kids who graduated from those schools back then went on to encourage their children to take out massive amounts of student debt because “well you have to go to college, and I never learned enough about math or economics to realize this is a bum deal for you!”

It’s almost like college was always more about social status and money than education.

not to say it’s useless for education, obviously. Just most people skimp on the math and economics, which perhaps we should not.

Minimum wage increase 2.3x.

Tuition increase 11.8x.

We need wage growth. You can do this same math with the cost of most major items. It's not as stark as with college, but housing, cars, food. All of it shows that wages have not kept up. At least not the minimum wage.
