My mom once told me that “food is a privilege” and if I “don’t do everything she tells me to” that she won’t feed me. I was 12 or 13 and she ended up hitting me so I made her call my dad (had no phone) and then she told him I was a liar and none of it happened.

Heard this a lot as a kid, or some variation of "I did some basic fucking child care that I legally have to do so you don't die, so you better respect me!"

I was actually pretty against having kids for a while due to it. I have two step kids now though and they are great.

My dad kept repeating this fucked up line over and over: "Up until you're 18 I'll pay for everything but after that I'll own you for the rest of your life".

And he wonders why I don't return his calls.
