I saw them in Birmingham, Ala. in 1993 when I was in high school. At the end of the set, they smashed up their instruments and a buddy of mine was near the stage when it happened. After Kurt threw a demolished bass drum head into the crowd, one of my buddies snagged it. He and I lived together freshman year of college and he had that bashed-in drum up on the wall. I hope he still has it.
Just looked up the set list from that show. Lots of cool memories. Thanks for this post.
Also, the Breeders were the opening act. I was the only one of my friends who ended up buying a Breeders T-shirt instead of a Nirvana one.
