Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said her heart was "full" after Democratic nominee Joe Biden overtook President Donald Trump to hold a razor edge lead in the state as counting continues in the 2020 presidential election.
Posting on social media on Friday morning, Abrams praised several Georgia nonprofits, the local Democratic Party branch and the late Congressman John Lewis as Biden appeared poised to turn Georgia blue for the first time in almost three decades.
"Charge any omissions to my head. My heart is full," Abrams tweeted this morning. "Georgia, let's shout out those who've been in the trenches and deserve the plaudits for change."
The ex-gubernatorial candidate and founder of Fair Fight, an organization that says it fights for free and fair elections, celebrated as new voting data from her state put Biden ahead of Trump by a tiny margin.
According to election data compiled by the Associated Press, roughly 900 votes separate the presidential candidates, with 99 percent of estimated ballots counted thus far.
A Democratic presidential candidate has not been backed in Georgia since Bill Clinton beat George H. W. Bush in the state in 1992.
Under the Associated Press' current electoral vote projection, a victory for Biden in Georgia would be enough to carry him over the 270-vote line needed to secure the presidency.
The news agency has called Arizona, which carries 11 electoral college votes, for Biden. However, several other news outlets have not.
Around 10 percent (approximate 280,000 ballots) of the vote is still left to be counted in the state, where 1.6 points separate the former vice president and Trump.
According to The New York Times, which has not called Arizona, Biden has won 253 electoral college votes compared to Trump's 214 votes. That means that if Biden were to secure Georgia's 16 electoral college votes, he would still be one short of 270.
Meanwhile, President Trump has continued to make unfounded claims that he has won re-election if certain ballots that he called "illegal" are discounted from the national total.
"I easily WIN the Presidency of the United States with LEGAL VOTES CAST," Trump tweeted on Friday morning. "The OBSERVERS were not allowed, in any way, shape, or form, to do their job and therefore, votes accepted during this period must be determined to be ILLEGAL VOTES."
Trump also called the late counting of mail-in ballots a "fraud on the American people" during a White House speech in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Seeing how she took what was likely a stolen election from her in 2018, and how she turned around and continued to work hard for what she believes in bodes very well for her no matter where she ends up in the future. It's also a major sign of a great leader, so I can easily see her catching even MORE attention for possible executive positions in the near future, and onwards(and upwards).
