Defence Force member issued with infringement notice in Darwin

Northern Territory Police have issued an infringement notice to a Defence Force member who allegedly left his designated quarantine accommodation in Darwin yesterday.

The 41-year-old had been subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantine period after returning from overseas.

Police say he tested negative for COVID-19 both before his departure and upon arrival in Darwin.

The man came to the attention of officers due to what police described as his "aggressive behaviour".

The penalty for failing to abide by the Chief Health Officer's directions is $5,056.

More than 33,000 compliance checks have now been undertaken in the NT, with 155 fines issued.

Proud of all my fellow Australians. We stuck it to the Murdoch Media and showed the rest of the world how it's done. Victoria especially deserves a lot of praise for how they came together in arguably the most challenging crisis in modern Australian history, and props to Northern Territory, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory (my home!) for holding COVID-safe and secure democratic elections.

We really are the lucky country in a lot of ways. Next step: Destroy the Murdoch Media Establishment.

Australia, not only can we wrestle crocs and brown snakes but we can wrestle a pandemic. Now just to rid ourselves of the Murdoch plague and we’ll be sweet.
