Wait till we tell them that the News networks don't actually have any control and the popular vote results typically aren't certified until December.

There was a time when computers and scanners didn't exist and mail-in ballots were plentiful. The election of 1864 was decidedly slow for this reason—absentee ballots and such (spoiler alert: the Republican candidate won easily). But even many redditors will recall that the final count in Florida during the 2000 election was slow, slow, slow. And the recount was even slower!
