All over America, Republican senatorial candidates are growing feathers and clucking very loudly. In Louisiana, incumbent Bill Cassidy has simply refused to debate Democratic candidate Adrian Perkins, the mayor of Shreveport. In Mississippi, incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith, noted Virgil Kaine cosplayer, is likely going to be successful in her quest to duck Mike Espy and, most spectacular of all, in Alabama, football meathead Tommy Tuberville has taken a dive against incumbent Democratic senator Doug Jones. From Politico:

“He's proven that he’s a quitter at his job, and now he’s proven he’s just kind of a coward because he really doesn’t have anything to say,” Jones said. “He doesn’t have a plan, he doesn’t do anything to put forth a plan or any platform and there’s just only so many times you can say ‘Donald Trump.’”

Not that the ones who agree to debate aren't also diving over the rail. Having been left for dead by Democratic challenger Jon Ossoff in their last encounter, which produced a haymaker that will live forever in political lore, incumbent Republican David Perdue of Georgia has bailed on their last scheduled encounter. And, up in Maine, Susan Collins, the incumbent Republican, enlivened her most recent encounter with Democratic challenger Sara Gideon, by tearing up the English language to avoid taking a position on whether or not the president* should be re-elected. Any TV news producer who doesn't immediately follow that clip with a video of a cock crowing should be made to go back to Sunday school.

Is it dawning on these people that pledging undying fealty to a vulgar talking yam might have had long-term consequences on their political careers? Are they simply trying to run out the clock in their comfy ideological bunkers? Stay tuned.

They won't debate in the future either. They will doubledown on social media propaganda from here on out.

Owning the libs is harder to do when faced with facts and a response.
