My mom wouldn't read me dinosaur books because they weren't "as fun as fairy tails" but she read them to my younger brother as much as he liked. She thought rugby was "barbaric" and immediately left the first game she ever saw me in, she sat in the car the whole time refusing to watch me play, but she was at every game for my brother cheering him on. My dad came, cheered, and coached me on playing better. He was so proud of how I played and loved how ruthless I was. As a teen I began to distance myself from the negativity of my mother who never wanted me to go anywhere, to try anything, she just wanted me to get married and give her grandkids. I instead had other plans to live a great life. Thankfully my father has always been my cheerleader.

When I was younger I got laughed by my cousins for wanting to play with a doll house. But in my defence Have you seen a doll house!? At that point in my life most of my toys are guns cars cards and action figure. I love em but that house was just mind blowingly different for me. A toy and a house? Where you can open and close the rooms? Where each room you can decorate and edit as much you want? Hell yeah i'm going to be into that

My MIL made a comment on a pink toy my son had and I had to shut that down. I laughed and said he doesn’t care, why should I? He’s a toddler. He doesn’t care about having a pink bucket and I’m not about to let anyone tell him or make him think that’s wrong. She hasn’t said a word since.
