I fought this so hard as a kid. I was embarrassed of everything I enjoyed and honestly looking back, it was exhausting trying to keep up.
The best example I have is when I went on a camping trip with two kids who were a little bit older then me (I think I was a preteen and they were 13-14ish) I wanted them to like me so much that when they started talking shit about the Jonas brothers I joined in enthusiastically trying to fit in.
Mind you, I wasn't a huge JB fan but I had gone to one of their concerts and had this dark green concert tee that fit fantastic and I loved to pieces. Of course, I forgot about the JB bashing earlier in the trip and wore that shirt a few days later. The other kids, unfortunately did not forget. I don't think I've ever been that mortified in my life. So not worth it!

That’s all happiness is
You feel happy on things that you have control with
Not you feel happy cuz others like it cuz your happiness depends on what others feels and that’s uncontrollable and so you can’t be freely happy

Also remember that when you think back to something “cringy” that just means you have matured since then
