I'd like to be Frank Sinatra wealthy. He gave away $100 tips non stop all day every day to anyone who did anything for him and that was in the 70s.

I know this may sound like a brag but I make six figures and I still find myself doing that.

Every time I have to tell myself, no, that's going to look like shit in the house.

I was between apartments in 2002. My roommate took off without telling me and not paying back 3 months of rent. Stole everything worthwhile from my place.

My lease was up and I left the apartment by turning in the keys to the management. She was furious as I had not given her 2 month notice. I had no choice but to tell her I cannot afford. She threatened me with legalities and having a roommate without on the lease calls for another penalty..bla bla bla. I just told her to mail me whatever and she said and your address is??, I said my car.

Anyways, so after living out of my car for about 3 weeks a new employee at my work said he is looking for a roommate. 1 other guy also joined us. We moved in his apartment. He was as broke as we were. No furniture or mattress or anything. While returning from work after closing the store we saw some furniture on the sidewalk. We were so happy.

We put everything on top of my car. Having no ropes they both walked with the car holding the furniture taking turns driving the car.

Got stopped by the cops. He lets us go thankfully.

Made it home. Took the furniture upstairs in our studio apartment. Were so happy to have a couch and a mattress. We were exhausted but truly happy.

Next day went to work and all good. Third day everyone have rashes and red scars and pimples all over the body, Bodyaches and just lethargy. Didn't know why and all 3 of us had it.

Some customers or someone from the work said those looks like bedbugs man. Get rid of the new furniture and was advised to let apartment management know, Big Mistake.

We did and got into trouble for pests, extra people leaving in apartment without being on the lease. They made us throw the furniture 3 miles away to public big trash dumpster. We were not allowed to touch apartment dumpsters.

Paid the penalty to the apartment had to live out of car again for few days.

Man we cried like small kids after throwing that furniture and just being so exhausted. I thought it was just me crying silently driving back and realized it just wasn't me. I guess I made them emotional.

Every time I see furniture on streets I still take a second look and remember my old days and pray not to see those days again.
