When I bought my first house which was also an older home, the soon-to-be previous owner who was a little older than I am now gave me some sagely advice which I'll pass on to you. In the first year or two, do nothing major. Get to know the house. Once you are familiar with all of its quirks, go nuts.

Nice. Now go find the secret safe in the basement and report back.

Man (seated), 2020.

One of u/davaflav1988’s more challenging works, this photograph draws the viewer in, past harsh modern compositional elements of hard lines and abrupt angles to solitary figure, awkwardly bisecting the rising lines of the stairway behind him. Eyes almost shut to the gaze of the camera, the figure sits, though does not rest. Behind and to his right, a picture within a picture of a union, yet he is alone, so alone. An almost Egelston-esque instant, captured with a casual tilt, the masterpiece asks the viewer “Is this the American Dream, or merely a dream of America?”.
