I really don’t understand why this attack even happened. He was just discussing history. A magazine did publish caricatures of Mohammed. And it did lead to terrorist attacks. He didn’t make that all up just to make the religion look bad or something. And it’s not like the teacher drew caricatures on the board himself just for shits and giggles.
These were real events. You can’t just censor it to make it less offensive because then it would be downplaying the whole situation and completely dishonest. He even warned students before he showed the images and let them step out of the class for a moment.
This is ridiculous. It’s like a teacher discussing WW2 and showing the Nazi flag. Then getting beheaded for being anti-semitic. Complete nonsense. My guess is that student already had a bone to pick with the teacher for whatever reason and was just begging for an excuse to do something like this. It just doesn’t make any sense for someone to be so angry that history isn’t as perfect and flawless as they want it to be.
