Step child with a half brother here. Basically this, plus later on in family therapy my step dad just basically flat out said "yeah me is great and we love him, but my half brother is the real son, it's not the same" and my 10 year old ass went "oh" and from thpoint on I stopped wondering why the fuck everything was so skewed at home. I don't envy that poor kid, he's in for a shit time.
