IMO Marvel would really be dropping the ball if they didn't make Shuri become the Black Panther in the next movie (original cosplay by Cutiepiesensei)

I found her way too immature in contrast to Tchalla, to just take up the mantle right away. They would need major character development. It could work, but pretty much any direction they choose is gonna be a challenge.

But...I want Shuri to be Shuri... for at least a little longer. I thought they'd pass the mantle eventually, after she'd had more time to just be herself.

Let Nakia do it.

I'm still in favor of them explaining how the mantle of Black Panther was dealt with during the blip. Wakanda couldn't have gone five years without a king and BP. M'Baku could have taken up the role, since he's the only past challenger that is alive. Five years later, Shuri blips back and M'Baku has to mentor her in the ways of being Black Panther for whenever the time is right. I feel like that pair up would be to die for.

Also, with her being so crucial in the technological development of Wakanda, it could be interesting to see her struggle to balance her love for science and the expectation of living up to her royal blood, all while being an immature kid thrust into responsibility after five years of not existing. Her being young should be no more of a problem than it was with Spider-Man.

Edit: wow this got a lot of love, I'm flattered! So a common concern is having two back to back Black Panther origin movies. If that is a concern, they could take their time with the Shuri replacement. We are assuming that the next BP movie would be right after the blip, but it wouldn't be a bad idea for Marvel to take their time, instead of scrambling, and instead make a movie about Wakanda during the blip. That's five years of untold story and conflict in Wakanda. They could release a new BP movie while also taking their time figuring out how to handle Boseman's death (which i still have not gotten over). That way no hasty decisions have to be made. Just tell the story of how Wakanda was deeply affected those five years. Not just their royal family, but they are recovering from a failed battle, half of their population has disappeared, this must have affected their entire structure that makes them such a superpower. Movie ends with the end of the blip, yaddah yaddah, sets up for the next BP movie

As for the heart shaped herb, I have no doubt that Marvel has already developed a handful of scenarios to get themselves out of that one. One of the producers at Marvel (can't remember the source or quote) really wanted to drive home that BP is a role, not an exact character. They would have been prepared to continue the franchise after the current one retired. They're no strangers to retcon.
