I was on Tumblr back in the day when this post was going around and the funny thing was that the first commenter was also a skinny white girl. Without cystic acne lol.
I have cystic acne, I got it from my dad who has a face full of ance scars and was on prescription meds for it through middle and highschool. I still deal with it as a 19 year old, I didnt have it as bad as him thanks to my moms genes, but I still used every over the counter treatment and went to the doctor for it once or twice when it got really painful growing up. I've learned how to deal with it and im slowly getting my SO to stop trying to pop my pimples when I have a flair up.
It really does a lot of damage to your self image growing up with it and your family trying to push a bunch of treatments on you, being bullied and teased for it, hearing your friends now talk about how gross and weird it looks because they didnt know you back then, not seeing anyone else with acne like you. It hurts. I've grown and it barely bothers me. Good on her, and everyone else who is confident and deals with cystic acne.
