Before it went under the pop music station did an adult swim type thing at night where they changed it up to rock/metal. Pantera, Static-X, Metallica, Manson, etc. surprisingly heavy
Then ONE night, when I was in 6th grade, the most amazing thing happened. I don’t know if the DJ said fuck it, or was taking the night off, or what but they started blasting Cradle of Filth, Deicide, Dimmu Borgir, and just tons of black metal bands that my young self had never heard of. Blew my absolute mind.
It took weeks of looking up lyrics and borrowing internet connections to convince my non-radio listening friends that these bands existed and made the stuff we listened to sound like nursery rhymes. It also never happened again

It’s almost like rock stations aren’t about rock and are just carpool karaoke for one.
