Jack White is set to perform on Saturday Night Live this weekend (October 10), stepping in for Morgan Wallen. Wallen was ousted from the show, he said, due to “COVID protocols” after recent video surfaced of him partying without a mask. Bill Burr will host. White’s performance follows the announcement this week of the White Stripes’ first official greatest hits collection, out December 4.

In an Instagram video on Wednesday night, Wallen said, “I respect the show’s decision because I know I put them in jeopardy, and I take ownership for this. I’d like to apologize to SNL, to my fans, to my team for bringing me these opportunities, and I let them down. And on a more personal note, I think I have some growing up to do.”

In a promo for the episode, Burr alluded to Wallen being pulled from the show. “Hey Kenan, maybe they’ll let me do my music too,” he joked.

I got to see Jack with the Raconteurs last year. I've always had a thing for him and always wanted to see him and holy shit...

You know how you have some people on your list of artists you REALLY wanna see live, and you finally see them and its kind of a letdown because of how much you've built it up in your head?

This was the opposite of that.

That’s gotta be a nice phone call.

Maybe you’re sitting around your house fixing a table and now you’ve got a reason to road trip up to NYC. Park your car right inside the 30 Rock lot and head up to the 8th floor, play some Eddie Van Halen covers, say hi to some friends and head back down to work on your broken ass table.
