You know what, Ser Davos was one of the characters that I feel I can relate to. His story and character arc is amazing. He's like the audience's foil to everything that unravels in GOT's story. I'm so happy that even though the seasons went to shit at the end he didn't suddenly become this BS character.
I'm happier to know that he was like this because Liam Cunningham the man who played him is such a stand up guy that the won't let the writers fucked his character just for the sake of "Subverting Expectations".

I'm so very very thankful their slave series never got off the ground. I can only shudder to think all the ways these demonic hacks would have willfully degraded and botched that idea.
