Eastern Red Cedar for the win! Love that wood for a million uses from carving projects to birdhouses. Too bad the trees tend to grow super slow with tons of branches, meaning tons of knots. Enough clear (no knots) ERC to make a stripbuilt canoe...it's a dream.
(BTW, as that wood seasons, the purple will slowly change to a rich brown. Amazing wood.)
